3A Region 2 Championship

Revenge and Regional Glory on the Line: Bishop Moore Hosts Eau Gallie in 3A FinalThe Class 3A Region 2 Final is set for a blockbuster showdown tonight as the No. 1 seed Bishop Moore Hornets (11-1) host the No. 2 seed Eau Gallie Commodores (9-3). This high-stakes matchup is a dramatic rematch of last season’s regional final, which saw Eau Gallie narrowly escape with a two-point victory to advance. This year, the roles are reversed, with the Hornets holding home-field advantage and seeking redemption.

Tale of the Tape: Statistically Driven SuccessBoth teams enter the final with major momentum following dominant semifinal victories, but they achieve their success through contrasting offensive styles.

How they got here. Bishop Moore Hornets (No. 1) | 11-1 | Crushed Hernando (61-6); Rolled Eastside (36-8). Air Attack (Avg. ~290 Passing Yds/G) | Amar’e Johnson (RB, 234 Yds & 2 TDs in Semifinal) / Kenyon Alston (WR).

Eau Gallie Commodores (No. 2) | 9-3 | Shutout Tavares (26-0); Beat Merritt Island (35-14). Ground Game (Avg. ~257 Rushing Yds/G) | Potent Rushing Attack (Xman Lherisse and Xman Corbin)

The Hornets’ offense is highlighted by their ability to strike quickly through the air, but senior running back Amar’e Johnson proved he’s a force on the ground, erupting for 234 yards and two touchdowns in their semifinal win. He is a multi-threat player who also leads the team in total touchdowns with 28.

Eau Gallie, meanwhile, has anchored its success on a powerful and disciplined rushing game, complemented by an opportunistic defense. They shut down Tavares in the quarterfinal and picked off three passes—including a pick-six—in their win over Merritt Island. A High-Stakes Rematch Last year’s regional final saw Eau Gallie, as the top seed, edge Bishop Moore 26-24 to secure one of the deepest playoff runs in Commodore history.

Bishop Moore’s Motivation: The Hornets are determined to avenge that narrow defeat. They enter this year’s contest as the heavy favorite at home, backed by a sensational 11-1 season record, and are hungry to reclaim the regional title.

Eau Gallie’s Confidence: The Commodores have won three straight district championships and proved they can win a hard-fought regional final on the road. Their defense, highlighted by three interceptions in the semifinal, is built for playoff intensity. The winner will advance to the state semifinals. Tonight’s clash is a definitive question of football philosophy: Will the Hornets’ explosive air attack and star back prevail, or will the Commodores’ relentless ground game and opportunistic defense punch their ticket to the next round? Kickoff is set for 7:00 PM EST tonight at Bishop Moore High School in Orlando.
